Title X — Emancipation and Age of Majority

Article 237

EO 209 · Family Code of the Philippines

ELI5— what this means for you

Nothing in the emancipation rules prevents the law from setting specific higher age requirements for certain acts — like minimum voting age, the age required to be elected as a senator (35), or the age to enter certain contracts with the GSIS. Emancipation gives general legal capacity; specific laws can still impose higher age bars.
