02

Why there is no NIR wage order

RA 12000 re-established the Negros Island Region as Negros Occidental (including Bacolod City), Negros Oriental and Siquijor. A new region needs its own Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board before it can issue a Wage Order under RA 6727. Until it is constituted, the older boards keep their coverage: RTWPB-VI for Negros Occidental, and RTWPB-VII for Negros Oriental and Siquijor (ROVII-27 Sec. 4, citing A.O. 264 s.2025).

⚖

Your rate depends on which board covers your workplace today, not on the new region name. If you are paid below it, report it to your DOLE regional office.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a Negros Island Region minimum wage?

Not yet. RA 12000 created the Negros Island Region (Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental and Siquijor), but its regional wage board has not issued a Wage Order. NWPC's NIR page shows only a placeholder, so each Negros area still follows the order of the board that covered it before.

What is the minimum wage in Negros Occidental and Bacolod?

Under Wage Order RBVI-29 (RTWPB-VI), the non-agriculture rate is ₱550 a day for establishments with more than 10 workers, ₱525 for 10 workers or less, and ₱520 for agriculture. There is no separate Bacolod rate.

What is the minimum wage in Negros Oriental, Siquijor and Dumaguete?

These areas follow Region VII's Class B rate: ₱500 a day under Wage Order ROVII-26, rising to ₱542 under ROVII-27 on October 14, 2026. Class B has one rate for agriculture and non-agriculture. Dumaguete is in Class B, not in the higher Class A (Expanded Metro Cebu).

Which Wage Order applies in Dumaguete?

Wage Order ROVII-26, issued by RTWPB-VII. ROVII-27 Sec. 4 says RTWPB-VII keeps jurisdiction over Negros Oriental and Siquijor until an NIR board is constituted, under A.O. 264 s.2025.

When will the Negros Island Region have its own wage order?

No date has been announced. NWPC's NIR page carries news that board staff were sworn in in July 2026 and welcomed in August 2026, but it lists no wage order. Until one is issued, the rates above stay in force.
