Article 201
ELI5— what this means for you
Support must be paid in advance on each payment period (monthly, for example). The obligation to pay does not wait for the previous period to end — the obligor must fund it at the start of each period.

The amount of support, in the cases referred to in Articles 195 and 196, shall be in proportion to the resources or means of the giver and to the necessities of the recipient. (296a)
