Usufruct is the right to use and enjoy another's property (and its fruits) for a period of time — without destroying its substance. Like a tenant who has the right to keep all the crops from a farm they don't own.

Usufruct gives a right to enjoy the property of another with the obligation of preserving its form and substance, unless the title constituting it or the law otherwise provides. (467)
