If you're one of several creditors jointly owed the same debt (solidary creditors), you can act to help the others collect, but you can't do anything that would hurt their interests.

Each one of the solidary creditors may do whatever may be useful to the others, but not anything which may be prejudicial to the latter. (1141a)
